Overview

Explore Iconic Wildlife Encounters

This is the core of a Kenya wildlife safari — lion, leopard, cheetah, elephant, and, if your dates land between July and October, the wildebeest migration crossing the Mara River. But the animals move on their own schedule, not a printed one, and the difference between a good sighting and a great one usually comes down to who's driving.

Edward reads each park daily rather than working off a fixed route — which waterhole is holding in the dry season, where a pride was last seen, which stretch of river the herds are massing near before a crossing. None of that comes from a app or a briefing sheet. It comes from twenty years of actually being out there.

"People think wildlife safaris are about luck. Some of it is. But most of what looks like luck is just knowing where to be at six in the morning instead of nine."

What this can include

What this can include

Not a fixed package — a set of things Edward can build into any itinerary, depending on your dates and what you want most.

Big Cat Tracking
Lion, leopard, and cheetah — read by behaviour and terrain, not a tip line
Migration River Crossing
Timed to the Mara, when your dates fall July–October
Predator-prey dynamics
Not just "there's a lion" — why it's there, and what happens next
Birding
Kenya's bird list is enormous; Edward will slow down for it if you ask
Night Drives where allowed
Only in the private conservancies that permit them — never in the national reserves, where it's against the law
How Edward approaches this

A few principles he doesn't bend on.

Read daily

The plan bends to the animals

If a route isn't producing, it changes — the itinerary is a guide, not a contract

No queues

Timed around the crowds

Early starts and off-peak timing over sitting in a line of vehicles at a sighting

Straight talk

If it's a slow week, you'll hear that upfront

No overselling what a particular week is likely to produce

Ready when you are

Let's shape this around your dates.

Tell David when you're thinking of travelling and how many of you there are — he'll reply personally, usually within a day.
