Known for
Elephants and baobabs
Overview

Baobabs, and elephants by the hundred.

Tarangire is often the first stop on a northern Tanzania safari, and it is easy to underestimate. In the dry season the Tarangire River becomes the main source of water for the area, and elephants gather along it in large numbers, among ancient baobab trees.

It is quieter than the Serengeti and Ngorongoro, with good lion and big herds of zebra and wildebeest in the dry months. Your guide here is one of Dexter’s trusted local partners.
